Siberian Tiger's can be found in a wide variety of habitats, such as tropical evergreen forests, deciduous forests, coniferous woodlands (Taiga), mangrove swamps, thorn forests and grass jungles. In order for tigers to live a long healthy life, they require lots of forest and vegetation cover, sufficient large prey, and and easy access to water. Tigers are extremely good swimmers and are not scared to jump into the water. Organizations have recorded lengths of 20 miles swam by tigers easily. On hot days, tigers are known to spend their time in ponds, lakes or rivers to keep cool. Tigers also require a vast area of land in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, studies show that the average Siberian Tiger uses a range of 8-60 square miles. Yet, in some places with severity in climate and lack of prey, the Siberian Tiger can require up to 400 square miles. In the past decade, tigers have lost more that 40% of their habitat.
